THE EVE PROJECT

Brilliant Graham solos, unusual collaborations with women artists, and a Company premiere.

Featuring the Company premiere of Treading, Elisa Monte’s signature work, and the dynamic women of today’s Company performing solos born out of Martha’s 1930s political activism, Deep Song, Immediate TragedyandSpectre-1914. Our collaboration with Hauser & Wirth provides a digital treat — artist Mary Heilmann’s vibrant abstractions as a new set for Graham’s Satyric Festival Song. Elisa Monte will be with us in person!

PAST/PRESENT

Seven short works by four choreographers inspired by Martha Graham – and the season premiere of a Graham classic from 1981.

The Company premiere of four solos by Sir Robert Cohan, great Graham alum from the 1950s. One of these solos will be digitally reimagined with artwork by Rashid Johnson. Lamentation Variations by Kyle Abraham, Richard Move and Nicolas Paul (a NY premiere) will be introduced by the film of Martha in Lamentation, and the stunning Graham duet, Conversation of Lovers, will close the program.

OTHER SPACES

Transporting solos and duets that exist in other realms – real or imagined.

A virtuoso duet from The Auditions by Troy Schumacher will be in conversation with two duets by Graham and Treading by Elisa Monte. Also featured, a rare solo from Letter to the World and two digital premieres pairing the artwork of Luchita Hurtado with Saraband and that of Rita Ackermann with Immediate Tragedy.
