THE FIRST AND THE FUTURE
MARTHA GRAHAM (1894–1991) is recognized as a primal artistic force of the 20th century, alongside Picasso, James Joyce, Stravinsky, and Frank Lloyd Wright, single-handedly defining contemporary dance as a uniquely American art form.
Since it’s founding in 1926, over 400 dancers have performed as members of the MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY. Graham’s groundbreaking and uniquely American style of dance has influenced generations of artists while captivating audiences worldwide.
THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
The centennial celebration of the Martha Graham Dance Company continues throughout the 2026-27 season as we look toward the future with our new headquarters, new creative projects and partnerships, and expanded educational program.
Our 2026-27 Season theme, We Are Our Time, builds on the themes of the recently released PBS documentary about the Company and reflects on Martha Graham’s belief that each person is shaped by their own place in history.
