Arts Administration Internships

Martha Graham Dance Company offers summer internships in Arts Administration. Internships are structured to provide a well rounded experience in all aspects pertaining to arts management within a dance organization. 

In addition to experience in all aspects of arts management, we provide educational teaching sessions that are catered to the intern’s interests. This can include tutorials in learning software such as Patreon, Patron Manager, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and more.

Duties (including but not limited to)

General/ Administrative:

  • Various research projects within all departments  
  • Assist with day to day tasks 
  • Assist with preparations for the upcoming season 

Marketing

  • Work with the Director of Marketing to manage social media for the company and school accounts
  • Expand Company Merchandise (research, design, order, organize photoshoot for marketing and web development purposes)
  • Fulfill merchandise orders

Development 

  • Database building and management 
  • Compose acknowledgment letters for donations
  • Donor research/ grant research
  • Run various reports 

Resources

  • Online database library projects
  • Organize and manage large database
  • Gain experience with contracts and licensing agreements

Separator 

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduates, recent graduates, or postgraduate students with degrees related to the performing arts and/or business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous and strong attention to detail 
  • The ability to multitask
  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the company
  • Brings a positive attitude into the workplace and works well both independently and in a team environment

Position Type

  • Fully in person
  • Part-Time (generally 16-20 hours per week/  2-3 times per week) Hours can be flexible
  • Dates- June – August (flexible start/end dates)
  • Internship is unpaid but can be completed for University/School credit
