Support for Productions
of Works by Martha Graham
Proposal Guidelines for Student Productions
Martha Graham Resources provides support packages to for student productions of Graham dances. These packages include such items as:
- Detailed reconstruction packet (rehearsal videos, rehearsal audio, staging notes, historic background) for use by the Graham director.
- Rental costumes from the original Graham designs
- Authentic light plots and technical consultation
- Performance quality audio or sheet music for live performances
- Help with obtaining music rights
- Original program notes and credits
- Archival photos, publications and educational materials
- Language for grant applications
- Collaborations on interdepartmental curriculum (involving your music, visual arts, education or women studies departments, for example)
Please provide a brief description of the proposed project. This information will let us know what types of materials will be most helpful to you in restaging the Martha Graham work. Your proposal should include the following:
- Contact information for the project directors.
- Which Graham work?
- Length of rehearsal period, approximate number of days per week, number of hours per day.
- Dates of technical rehearsals, performances
- Size of house, size of stage
- Quality, type of lighting equipment
- Professional technical crew or student?
- Description of student level, amount of Graham training they have received
- Costumes to be rented from Graham or built by school following Graham designs?
- What format of audio will be needed for rehearsals? For performance?
- Do you need materials for community outreach such as panel discussions or film showings?
